Fillers

Restylane

Restylane is one of the many ‘fillers’ (wrinkle fillers) based on hyaluronic acids. Restylane, however, is unique since it is the only injectable with NASHA (Non Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid). NASHA is the first solid, biodegradable hyaluronic acid of non-animal origin and is produced carefully under strict conditions. Important aspect is that for this reason, Restylane is extremely safe to use and has a much longer effect than any other hyaluronic acid. In the USA, Restylane is approved by the Food and Drug Administration.

Hyaluronic acids normally occur in our body, where it is responsible for the retaining of water. This gives a certain amount of tension to the skin. The natural stock of hyaluronic acids declines with the years. Treatment with Restylane restores this stock and the moisture level of the skin.

Five various differences of Restylane concerning the amount of particles from which the hyaluronic acid-gel is based:

Small to large:

* Restylane Vital – improves the skin

* Restylane – treats fine lines and lip contours

* Restylane Perlane – treats rougher lines and lip volume

* Restylane Sub-Q – recovery of skin volume

If needed, the treated area can be numbed with a crème or numbing injections.

A Restylane treatment frequently lasts 15 – 30 minutes and gives a direct result. After the treatment, the skin can be a little bit swollen for a couple of days.

Risks The most occurring risk is the chance of a (small) haemorrhage as a result of the injection. This is seen with 50% of the patients. Allergic reactions to Restylane occur with less than 1:10.000.

After care

Avoid exposure to the sun or a tanning booth for a week after the treatment. In average, you can enjoy the treatment for 6 – 12 months, after which it can be repeated without any

problems.
