KiesQinformation

We deliver quality dentistry where preventive care is paramount.

KiesQ attaches great importance to prevention, therefore we offer our patients the possibility to make use of a VIP treatment (Maintenance, Instruction and Prevention). During this treatment your teeth are cleansed and polished. We also explain how to take optimal care of your teeth. If necessary, photos of your teeth are by the prevention assistant. During this treatment the dentist can do a periodic check so you don’t need to come back for this separately.

We advise our patients a periodic inspection twice a year.

To avoid misunderstandings, we would like to draw your attention to the following. If you are unable to attend and you cancel your appointment at least 48 hours in advance, the reserved

time will not be charged.

The check-up

With my previous dentist, a periodic check-up only took five minutes. Why does it take longer in your practice?

We reserve an hour for all our patients. In that time, your entire mouth will be professionally cleansed and we will explain how to optimally maintain your teeth yourself. We strongly believe in prevention: prevention is better than cure. In addition, your teeth are also being monitored. So you only have to come once.

I am always treated by the same prevention assistant in your practice?

Our prevention assistants rotate. We do this deliberately because in that way, there is always a “fresh” lookout on your teeth. If you prefer the same prevention assistant, please let us know while making the appointment. Why do you often take X-rays?

With the naked eye you can see a lot but not everything. Hidden cavities, inflammation in the jaw, bone destruction, etc, can only be seen with a photograph. In this way, treatment can be done at an earlier stage, before it’s too late.

New patients

With my previous dentist, a first visit took as long as a normal check-up. Why does it take longer in your practice?

We reserve an hour for all our new patients. In that time, we will get acquainted, there is an intake, an X-ray examination and a comprehensive dental examination. Afterwards, all of this will be discussed with you. You will know exactly the condition of your teeth after a first visit.

Bad teeth

I have always had bad teeth and during every visit to the dentist there is a cavity to be filled. How can I stop this process, since I am afraid to eventually lose my teeth?

When your teeth continue to deteriorate, there is something unusual going on. In most cases, the cause is a combination of genetic construction, insufficient nutrition and dental hygiene. Together with you, we’d like to investigate this in order to draw up a plan with the purpose to keep your teeth for as long as possible.

Appointments

At my current dentist, treatments are frequently delayed I always spend a long time in the waiting room. Is that the same at your practice?

No, definitely not. Your time is important to us, you have to do more than just going to the dentist. As a result of our highly professional planning, we are able to virtually help anyone on time. Assuming that everyone is on time at the agreed time of the appointment, that is.

Bleeding gums

When I brush my teeth my gums quite often bleed. Is that normal?

No, that’s not normal. However, it is very common. Bleeding gums means that your gums are inflamed. Healthy gums do not bleed! Discuss this issue with one of our prevention

assistants, they can help you.

Beautiful teeth

I would like whiter teeth. Is bleaching a bad thing, or are there other options?

When bleaching is done professionally, it is not bad for your teeth. Whether this is the right choice for you, is something you can discuss with us. Existing fillings and crowns, for instance, do not get whiter. When bleaching is not a good option, there are several other options such as facings. There is almost always a good solution to think of.

Children

What is the best age for a first visit to the dentist with my child?

In our opinion, children can never come too early. It is important that, at an early age, they become familiar with “going to the dentist.” Therefore, you are most welcome to take them with you when you come to your dental check yourself. However, when you have an appointment for a treatment, it is better to not bring your child.

I’m pregnant, should I frequently go to the dentist? In the past, each pregnancy caused the loss of one tooth with the mother. Fortunately, that is no longer the case. It is a fact however that it is quite common during pregnancies that gums are inflamed more quickly and bleed more easily. To avoid this, is important visit the prevention assistant more often.

I have bad teeth. Is my child going to inherit this?

No, definitely not! Most cavities develop between your 4th and 21st year, after that it usually stops. We therefore pay special attention to the prevention of cavities in this age group. During each check-up, all children receive an extended lesson in brushing their teeth and if necessary we put a protective layer (sealing) to the permanent molars. Did you get that as a child?
